Sarah Coutts - Osteopath
I believe that the body has the innate ability to heal itself, however due to the various layers of stress and injury, illness and simply wear and tear that we experience through our lives, sometimes we need a little help to untangle that and assist the healing process - and that is where osteopathy can be extremely useful.
As an osteopath, I treat all ages, from the newborn, to a wide variety of issues as we negotiate childhood into adulthood and older age.
My undergraduate training was at the British School of Osteopathy, now known as the University College of Osteopathy, in London. I then specialised in paediatric osteopathy, completing a two year Masters degree at the Osteopathic Centre for Children. where I went on to work as a senior osteopath overseeing fellow qualified osteopaths as they gained their Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy.
Previously, I held a clinical tutor position on the UCO's post-graduate paediatric course, where I also gained a PgCert in Applied Clinical Education,
which I used as part of an international teaching faculty at the Akademia Osteopatii in Poland, teaching paediatric osteopathy and embryology.
As well as teaching, I practiced in The Maris Practice in Twickenham for almost eleven years, before starting a clinic at home.

I now live with my family in beautiful East Lothian,
I am mum to two boys, and a proud volunteer crew member of
North Berwick RNLI
Why Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is concerned with the care of the whole family, from the routine checking of new-born babies and their mothers, to supporting childhood development and then assisting the aged to lead a more active life.

Treatment ranges from less direct approaches, sometimes known as Cranial osteopathy or Biodynamic osteopathy, which is a lifelong study; to more direct manual, structural techniques.

Osteopathy excels in ensuring the biomechanical balance and freedom of the body, which is integral to good health. Osteopaths work on the fundamental principle that the body is always trying to heal itself, and our role is to support, remove barriers, and aid that process.
There is no definitive list of the sort of conditions which may respond to osteopathic treatment, therefore I welcome enquiries to discuss the possibilities of helping each individual client on a case-by-case basis.
